Well...it has been a month; can’t really believe it. I am emailing you because you guys have shown interest in praying for me while I am in Switzerland working with Youth for Christ. I was told in training that you can’t survive if prayer is not a part of our time there. I believe that whole heartedly. Thank you for being a part of that.
I have had several emails from people telling me they are praying for me daily. I know it is also easier to pray for someone when you have specifics…so here are SPECIFICS!!!!! I know there are a lot…but I know many of you are praying for me daily…here are some ways to guide you. Again, THANK YOU for your prayers. I wish I could send all of you some Swiss Chocolate in gratitude! (a little secret...they sell swiss chocolate in america! It is "Lindt" and it is in a blue wrapper...check it out) I guess I will just have to eat more for all of you!
I will try to be more regular at sending prayer requests. I will also keep you updated on these prayers so you can see how God is active here with me!
Pray For:
1. Pray that God would bring friends into my life. Right now I am trying to find places to meet people my age. Right now I feel like it is going to be a long haul. Pray that in this loneliness that I would be drawn to God more than ever. Also pray that I would use all of my “down social time” wisely…that I wouldn’t be lazy and I would choose to be pro active in my relationship with God.
2. Pray for my time with Students. One that time would open up- they have so much school work…and that is what they do all the time. Also that they would find interest in spending time with me. Also pray that God would show me where the natural places are so I can be a part of their life.
3. Pray for me to continue to adjust to the culture. Pray that communication can take place effectively between me and others. Pray that I wouldn’t avoid being a part of the culture because of insecurities.
4. Pray for cohesion for our team in the YFC office. We are all running everywhere with all of our commitments. We are together in a meeting every other week. Pray that we would still have unity and community within the team.
5. Please pray for two girls in the youth. Both of them are “not ready to live a life following Christ.” They would both say they are Christians, but they confess that they don’t want to commit to anything right now. Pray that their eyes would be uncovered and that they would be drawn to the fullness of God. Pray that as they interact with me they would see what it is like to live in harmony with a perfect father.
6. Pray for Westlake youth group. Pray that the students in the church would be interested in coming to the youth program on Friday nights.
7. Pray that I would continue to be thankful for this experience.
8. Pray that God would guide me in my future. I will have to decide here in a couple of months if I want to stay here to work. I need God to be very clear with me because I know my heart is going to be so torn in so many ways.
9. Pray for the salvation of the lost. Pray that my work here could show them truth and life. Pray that they would be drawn to God’s fullness. That they may respond to the calling on their life to follow after Him
Praise God for:
1. A host home. I feel very comfortable with my host home. It is a place I can come to and relax and rest. Praise there is internet so I can stay in contact with home while I am homesick.
2. For the youth pastor I am working for. We spend a lot of time together so it is nice that we get along and that I enjoy being around him.
3. Financial Supporters. Without them I would not be here!
4. My family. They have been so supportive and encouraging through mail, email and phone calls.
